Night Visitor

You came unbidden in the night;

Power and might and danger,

You charmed and crept and purred

And beguiled me.

Until with grace and litheness

Your muscles as liquid began to flow

And stripes like warnings blazed.

Your lips pulled back,

And with some relish,

You showed me your teeth.
